Matt Hardy may no longer be a part of AEW, but the Broken One is thrilled to see the promotion reach a lucrative new deal with WBD.
The new deal is estimated to be between $150-185 million a year for three years and will see Dynamite and Collision remain on TBS and TNT.
On a recent edition of his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt Hardy shared his expectations for AEW’s future. He said,
“It’s a huge positive. The more places that are thriving and doing well in pro wrestling, especially promotion-wise, the better it is for professional wrestling in general.
“The fact that AEW got this deal — it’s a super positive thing. AEW existing is for the better of pro wrestling, no doubt. It’s better for the fans. It’s better for the people who work in wrestling.”
Hardy added that Tony Khan has considerably more resources than most names in wrestling, which bodes well for the promotion’s future.
It has been reported that AEW could go beyond WBD by landing its rumored ‘Shockwave’ show on FOX now that the network no longer airs SmackDown.
Matt was with AEW from 2020 until earlier this year and has since returned to TNA Wrestling where he is teaming with Jeff Hardy.
Last month, Matt weighed in on AEW hosting massive matches on TV rather than saving them for pay-per-view events. Click here to check out his comments.
