TNA Wrestling’s Matt Hardy has shared his thoughts on Ricky Starks, close to nine months after Starks’ most recent match for All Elite Wrestling.
Not only is Starks not being used in AEW, but the promotion recently pulled him from appearing at a GCW event and all upcoming GCW shows.
On a recent edition of his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt Hardy said he loves watching Starks in action and discussed his hiatus. He said,
“As far as guys being there under contract, I guess if there is a dispute and maybe someone voices an opinion that is contrary to your company or saying he doesn’t want to work there or whatever it may be, once again, I don’t know any of this, but I get Tony Khan holding someone under contract until the end of their deal, I mean, if they’re being paid, it is what it is.
“You signed a contract. That happens in business all the time, so that’s nothing new in pro wrestling. That’s one of those things that I’m not going to be too critical of because that’s just kind of how business is conducted in the big scheme of things.”
Hardy added that Starks is extremely talented and charismatic and can seen him being a big star in the future with “the correct opportunity.”
Starks has said that he has speculations as to why he’s not being used in AEW but nothing concrete has been shared with him by the company.
In August, it was reported that AEW believed Starks no longer wanted to be with the promotion. Starks has denied claims he turned down creative pitches.
