Speculation over Shane McMahon joining All Elite Wrestling has been greatly exaggerated, according to WWE & AEW alum Matt Hardy.
In recent weeks, it was reported that Shane had broached the topic of joining with AEW talent though it’s said this was by no means a pitch by WWE’s prodigal son.
On a recent edition of his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Hardy claimed he had spoken to Shane and that the idea of him joining AEW isn’t accurate. He said,
“He’s not. I heard from someone…none of that was true. It’s Matt Fiction, 100%, yeah. It would be wild. Shane reached out to someone, I said like, ‘Why is all this talk of me and AEW, why’s this going on?’ People started texting me about it, and reached out to someone and asked them about it, which was interesting.”
McMahon was fired from WWE in 2022 after chaotic scenes at that year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, with his father Vince stating that Shane would never get a WWE pop again.
Shane’s most recent appearance for WWE came at WrestleMania 39 where he suffered an injury during an impromptu match with former ally The Miz.
