On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, former AEW wrestler Mike Santana recalled signing with AEW in 2019 along with former tag team partner Ortiz.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On signing with AEW: “We had spoken to WWE extensively, and they made it very hard for us to turn them down. Cody [Rhodes] was the one who hired us, and we had already, before anything, we had spoke a while back, and we had given Cody our word before anything, and our word is everything.”
On their talks with WWE: [WWE] asked have we signed anything, and we’re like, ‘No, but we gave our word, and we would like to stick to that.’ At the time we both had young children, we wanted to see them grow up, and the schedule was much easier with AEW.”
During a recent appearance on “The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling” podcast, AEW wrestler Ryan Nemeth praised the depiction of the Kevin Von Erich biopic, The Iron Claw. Nemeth portrays Gino Hernandez in the film.
He said, “Well, you know, I was doing that kind of stuff before I ever got involved with wrestling at all. It’s been nice these past few years to be way more active in it and I’m very proud to be a part of The Iron Claw, I think that’s the best depiction of wrestling I’ve ever seen in cinema. I’m very, very excited about how that came out. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s streaming, so you have no excuse.”
And finally, Stonecutter Media has announced a new pay-per-view event airing this month on Dory Funk and Kevin Von Erich. It is now available on pay-per-view and On Demand.
