Nigel McGuinness vs. Bryan Danielson Now Scheduled For AEW: Dynamite Grand Slam

On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, a big change to the card for the upcoming AEW Grand Slam special was made with Darby Allin’s title shot for the AEW World Championship now on the line against Jon Moxley, rather than the daredevil challenging Bryan Danielson for the belt itself.

Following that news, another adjustment was made to the card, as Nigel McGuinness interrupted an interview with Christopher Daniels backstage to say that he needed to talk to Tony Khan.

A few segments later, McGuinness came out to the ring to make an announcement. He badmouthed Danielson, saying he believes an event like Grand Slam deserves to have the World Champion compete even if “The American Coward” was recuperating from his attack from Moxley.

McGuinness lamented Danielson’s success over the years should have been his and accused Danielson of being afraid of him. However, Tony Khan knows a money match when he sees one, so the new match at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam will be Danielson against McGuinness.

The wording of this segment has left it open to interpretation as to whether or not this match will be for the AEW World Championship, or if it will be a non-title match. Technically, Danielson has yet to accept, but it is being advertised more as just a regular match rather than the title on the line.
