During a recent appearance on the “Battleground” podcast, Orange Cassidy shared his experience working a darker storyline in AEW involving Jon Moxley and the Death Riders.

On having a darker storyline in AEW now: “I feel very fortunate that I’m allowed to [have a darker storyline]. I think if it — If I weren’t in AEW, you wouldn’t be allowed to see me evolve and be able to do something like this. I think AEW gives professional wrestlers like me the opportunity to evolve.”
On the pressure he feels to do something he’s not used to: “When I have to do something like that, that is not typically what I do, there is an immense amount of pressure for me to hit a home run because I only get so many and I need to make those count.”
On Jon Moxley and the Death Riders: “Jon Moxley is dangerous, like, they are ending careers. I don’t know what he will do next, and what they will do next.”

On working as a buffer between Tony Khan and Scott D’Amore: “Tony’s so cool about it, and you know, one of the things that I bring to the table besides just being able to get into the ring is, you know, having that buffer between Scott D’Amore and Tony. And then I have to handle all of that, but you know, at the end of the day, like it just adds more work for me but it does help the company.”
On his belief in helping people even if you are scared they might take your spot: “Even if you are scared, then step up, right? I always say that, like, you’re not gonna take my job. We can hire as many backstage employees as we want, you know, I have a connection to Tony that no one else has.”
