During a recent appearance on the “In the Kliq” podcast, former TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs reacted to Bryan Danielson’s retirement from full-time wrestling following his defeat at AEW WrestleDream 2024.

On Bryan Danielson retiring as a full-timer: “I look at pro wrestling as like the NFL, anything can happen on any given Sunday. For pro wrestling, anything can happen on any given day. It was a shocker, the aftermath was a shocker. Personally, thank you Bryan for everything you’ve done for pro wrestling and AEW, but things happened.”
On missing Danielson’s leadership in AEW: “Definitely, we’re losing a leader, someone who’s took a lot of wrestlers under his wing, so I think we’ll be missing some leadership, but we have a lot of individuals that will definitely step up in that place.”
In a recent issue of her “Mone Mag” newsletter, AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone reflected on her beginnings in the industry and acknowledged Tamina Snuka for showing her the importance of giving back.

On traditions expected of rookies in wrestling: “The thing about being a wrestle newbie is that you more or less need to be doing everything to support the vets and the show. You try to offer to pay for gas and even hotels, and you do things like drive the veterans the entire way. It’s more or less a rite of passage — or at least it was. These [wrestling] traditions are unwritten and have been passed down from veterans through the decades.”
On what she learned from Tamina Snuka: “She taught me to always pay it forward — and to pay it forward with kindness. I’m not sure how many wrestling veterans passed those sentiments down, but Tamina sure did. She was so unique that she, ‘the veteran’ actually paid for me, ‘the newbie.’ I remember her covering my hotel because even though I was an NXT Superstar. I didn’t have the money! I’ll always be grateful for that and the lessons.”
