Danhausen has been absent from AEW television for quite a while, and a recent report sheds light on his situation with the company.
The Very Nice, Very Evil One last competed for AEW at Worlds End in late December 2023, and Fightful Select is reporting that he is not currently involved in AEW’s creative plans, nor have there been talks about his return for some time.
According to sources, AEW and Danhausen have not maintained regular communication for over six months, aside from seeking approvals for independent dates, which is standard procedure for talent under AEW contracts.
Last year, there were plans for Danhausen’s return from injury, but those plans changed, causing him to express frustration directly to AEW President Tony Khan regarding the situation.
Earlier this year, there were some pitches to bring Danhausen back, with Bryan Danielson being a strong supporter who advocated for him. However, nothing came of that, even though Danhausen has been open to a return.
AEW believes that Danhausen preferred to focus on his independent bookings instead of working Collision on Saturdays, while Danhausen communicated family reasons for his availability that could — and eventually did — change throughout the year.
Danhausen’s AEW contract expires in the summer of 2025, and no current creative plans are in motion.
