Matt Cardona failed to dethrone ROH World Champion Chris Jericho at ROH Final Battle 2024.
Fightful is reporting that Cardona has not officially signed with AEW or ROH despite participating in multiple ROH tapings before Friday’s event.
For those who think this was meant to mend ties between AEW and GCW, it’s important to note that Cardona is also not under contract with GCW.
GCW typically does not issue contracts, except for Nick Gage’s deal with them.
When Fightful inquired about his contract status, Cardona humorously replied, “I’m signed to the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast.”
Following the match, Cardona was taken backstage due to an ankle injury and was seen on crutches after the event.
Cardona remains “hopeful” that the injury isn’t serious and that he’ll recover soon.
