Ricky Starks is set to appear outside of AEW, which is unusual considering the uncertainty surrounding his future with the company.
Starks last appeared on the March 30th episode of AEW Collision, during which he suffered an injury scare, which changed the planned outcome of the match.
Since that show, Starks has publicly stated that he is not injured and expressed uncertainty regarding AEW’s decision not to involve him in programming.
Starks’ indefinite absence caused many to speculate that he may depart for WWE once his AEW contract expires.
Although a social media rumor suggested that Starks was already a free agent, this is not the case.
As we previously reported here on eWn, WWE NXT has shown “significant interest” in signing Starks when he becomes available.
Speaking during the All Out 2024 media call, AEW President Tony Khan praised Starks and emphasized that he is still under contract with the company.
In a recent Twitter post, Starks announced that he will appear at the Wrestling Universe in New York City on September 22 from 12 to 3 p.m.
He tweeted, ”Few rare appearances like these so come say hello this Sunday!! 12pm-3PM @TheWrestlingUni.”
