More than just a future title shot was on the line when Swerve Strickland and Ricochet faced off at AEW Revolution 2025 in their No. 1 Contender’s Match, as Prince Nana’s robe being in Ricochet’s possession was driving a wedge between Strickland and Nana. Had Strickland come up short, he not only would be set back on his quest to regain the World Title, but Nana made it clear that he wasn’t sure he could continue to be his manager.
In a hard-fought contest that even saw a point where Nana left ringside, every turn that seemed like Strickland was back in charge was met with Ricochet flipping the script. Even when Nana grabbed the robe while Ricochet was distracted, The One and Only quickly got it back and continued to score a series of near-falls.
Ultimately, with comedians Ken Jeong, Leslie Jones, and Brad Williams watching ringside and cheering him on, Strickland managed to hit a few House Calls and a Big Pressure for the win, securing himself as the next challenger for the world title and being able to present the robe back to Nana, who embraced him and celebrated their win in the ring.
As Revolution 2025 is still ongoing, we don’t know yet officially who Strickland will face whenever his future World Title match is booked, so stay tuned to the continued results coverage to find out who wins between Jon Moxley and Cope.
