Samoa Joe reached a major milestone in his career by winning the AEW World Championship at AEW Worlds End 2023. Following his title loss, Joe engaged in a feud with Chris Jericho that escalated quickly into personal territory. Ultimately, the Samoan was written off AEW programming, but details about his return have emerged.
During the July 10th episode of AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho and Joe faced off in a Canadian Stampede Street Fight. In an unexpected turn of events, Jericho placed Joe onto a forklift and drove him through a wall.
The match had to be halted as Joe could not proceed, and he was stretchered and taken to the hospital.
Joe’s time away from television was intentional to allow him to film the second season of “Twisted Metal” on Peacock.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared an update about Joe’s return to AEW, indicating that the 45-year-old wrestler should be back soon since filming for his project just concluded this week.
Meltzer noted that Joe is now available and can return at AEW’s convenience.
Meanwhile, Joe has already been announced as a character in the “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” video game.
