Ricky Starks will remain with AEW for a bit longer.
There has been much speculation regarding Starks’ status, especially since AEW hasn’t utilized him since March. The former TNT Champion is healthy and ready for action.
Starks was present backstage at AEW Full Gear 2024 this past Saturday night, following his surprise appearance at the GCW event at The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
During a recent appearance on the “Insight” podcast, Starks spoke about his AEW status, noting that he is unsure why he hasn’t been utilized and referred to it as a “mindf**k.” However, he doesn’t believe that he is being penalized.
Fightful Select is reporting that AEW had an option year in the spring of 2024 within Starks’ contract, which they decided to activate. This means Starks’ contract will extend into the spring or summer of 2025.
Sources further stated that Starks was considering exploring the open market prior to his deal being extended.
Starks is expected to head to WWE once he is free from his AEW contract, as the company has shown interest in him.
