Jon Moxley returned to AEW TV during the August 28th episode of Dynamite, marking his first appearance since losing to Tetsuya Naito at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024.

Moxley debuted a new persona and delivered a cryptic promo during the broadcast, addressing AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone and Darby Allin.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that Moxley’s new gimmick is inspired by the 1992 cult film Romper Stomper. The movie features Russell Crowe in his breakthrough role as Hando and depicts the downfall of a neo-Nazi group in Melbourne, Australia.

Moxley’s promo on AEW Dynamite seems to be directly inspired by a notable scene in the film, in which Hando tells a Vietnamese couple, “This is not your country,” echoing Moxley’s dialogue, “This is not your company.”

Alvarez said, “I actually know the movie he watched. Romper Stomper, Australian cult classic, 1992. He was playing Russell Crowe in what he was doing. I’m not making this up. That’s a scoop for ya.”
