During a recent appearance on “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz,” AEW President commented on a potential AEW return for Shaquille O’Neal. The NBA legend previously teamed up with Jade Cargill to face off against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet on a March 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite. Khan said,
“I don’t think it serves us well to close the loop because I think Shaq wanted to leave it open-ended for him to come back. He saw that being a really good cliffhanger to a return, and I think he’s right. People are still talking about it and it’s been three and a half years. What he was going for clearly worked because he wanted a cliffhanger that leads to his return. When Shaq is ready to wrestle again, that will be a perfect entry point for him to return to the world of professional wrestling. We loved having Shaq in AEW.”
During a recent appearance on the Sappenin’ Podcast, AEW wrestler Bryan Danielson commented on the reports that he attempted to use Europe’s “The Final Countdown” for his AEW debut, which is something he denies.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On not trying to get “The Final Countdown” for his AEW debut: “That’s not even a true thing. I wasn’t trying to bring anything in. The music that I come out to now, I wanted something different from my WWE stuff, but if you heard the first part would be reminiscent of that.”
On Elliott Taylor creating his AEW entrance theme: “My friend Elliott (Taylor), he produces a lot of great music. He put that together for me and turned it around within a week. What I really wanted, and it’s never truly caught on, I got it from an English football chant. I did it in Ring of Honor and it caught on and people liked it, but I think it’s hard in bigger arenas. ‘You’re gonna get your f**king head kicked in.’ I wanted that kind of beat in my entrance music, and Elliott put it in, but it hasn’t really caught on in the United States.”
Bryan Danielson will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at AEW All In: London.
