During the recent media call for AEW WrestleDream 2024, AEW President Tony Khan announced another iconic match for tonight’s episode of ROH TV on HonorClub, stating that it solidified his appreciation for Ring Of Honor.
Last week, ROH TV began incorporating classic matches into its schedule, starting with Samoa Joe vs. Kenta Kobashi.
This week’s episode will feature the Bryan Danielson vs. KENTA match from Glory By Honor V in 2006.
Khan said, “This week going into WrestleDream, given the stakes in the match and given everything Bryan Danielson’s brought to the table and this great run he’s having as AEW World Champion. Since it was ROH where I first became familiar with Bryan, this week I wanted to show Bryan in one of the two matches that really made me a huge ROH fan. So I mentioned one that was shown last week which was Samoa Joe vs. Kenta Kobashi, that was one of the two DVDs I bought when I was in college that really got me into ROH, the other one, I think it was more recent at the time if I recall was Bryan Danielson vs. KENTA.”
Khan also addressed the possibility of a potential roster split in AEW. A soft roster split was reportedly on the horizon following the launch of AEW Collision, as several wrestlers were exclusive to that show.
Khan continued, “It’s not a bad thought. It’s an interesting thought. I have definitely considered many iterations of roster management and am still working on really interesting things in terms of the future of AEW media and the AEW roster. It’s early to speculate on that going into the new deal and what’s to come, but it’s an interesting thought. I have reflected on it and thought of. It’s a good thought. One way or the other, I have considered it. It’s an interesting idea, but right now, we definitely have some very interesting things happening across the shows. It is an interesting thought and in the future something I would and could consider.”
