AEW President Tony Khan takes great pride in his devotion to ECW. He has often recounted the experience of being present at ECW ‘The Doctor Is In’ 1996, where he witnessed Sabu and Rob Van Dam facing off in a Stretcher Match.
Moreover, Khan witnessed Taz’s performances at the ECW Arena, and his father, Shad Khan, also has vivid memories of “The Human Suplex Machine.”
During the AEW All In London 2024 post-show media scrum, Khan recalled the moment when his father, Shad, met HOOK, Taz’s son, at Arthur Ashe Stadium and shared with him his memories of watching Taz at the ECW Arena.
Khan said, “I remember my dad walking up to HOOK and Taz in Arthur Ashe Stadium and saying to HOOK, ‘I have to tell you something. Your dad is a tough guy. I took Tony to the ECW Arena when he was a kid, and that is a warzone. That is the most God-awful place I have ever been to in my life. Your dad is a tough guy to wrestle in that place. I can tell you that.’”
During Sunday’s AEW All In London 2024 pay-per-view event, HOOK defeated Chris Jericho to reclaim the FTW Championship. The victory made HOOK the first wrestler to win the FTW Championship thrice.
