In a recent interview with SportsGrid, AEW President Tony Khan discussed the potential to host an event at the Hammerstein Ballroom, a venue historically associated with Ring of Honor and ECW.

Khan said, Yes. I think that’s a very interesting idea. I’ve never been to the Hammerstein Ballroom. I’d love to do it. I’ve seen great shows there. I think it’s a great venue. I’ve never been. We also have these amazing relationships around New York. For the right event, on the right night, it could make a lot of sense. I’d imagine it would sell out very quickly because it’s not the biggest room, but it is a fascinating setup and a cool looking room. It has great acoustics and is a lot of fun from everything I’ve seen on television. I’d love to check it out in person. It’s a great idea. The Hammerstein Ballroom could be a cool venue sometimes. I haven’t thought much about it, but it’s an awesome idea.”

During last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay referred to MJF’s “bidding war of 2024,” noting that AEW President Tony Khan chose to pay him over MJF instead.

Fans quickly pointed out this was a mistake, as MJF recently signed a new deal with AEW.

Ospreay issued an apology on Twitter for his mistake. He tweeted,

Alright guys, realised I made a mistake during my comments last night on dynamite. I’ll do better next time under a lot of stress personally & wasn’t really focusing on my wording & result didn’t add up. No excuses when the red light is on. Next week I’ll knock it out the park.
