On a recent edition of his “What Happened When” podcast, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone justified the level of violence in the Hangman Page vs. Swerve Strickland Unsanctioned Lights Out Match at AEW All Out 2024, noting that it was necessary for that kind of feud.
Schiavone jokingly said, “Within the last year, I got to see a home invasion, someone burn someone’s house down. Why not see a couple attempted murders? First attempted murders I’ve ever seen.”
During the match, Strickland and Page took multiple bumps on a cinderblock. Swerve delivered a foot stomp through a table and also used a charred piece of wood to stab Page in the head.
The finish saw Page use a needle to stab Strickland in the mouth and knock him out with a chair shot to the head to secure the victory. The medical team checked on Strickland after the match.
