Two matches in the 2024 AEW Continental Classic tournament took place on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite as these brackets are starting to wind down.
First up, in the Blue League, Shelton Benjamin defeated The Beast Mortos. This puts Benjamin at 6 points, tied with Mark Briscoe for third place on the Blue League behind Kyle Fletcher (9) and reigning AEW continental champion Kazuchika Okada (7). Daniel Garcia remains at 4 points and must win both of his remaining matches against Benjamin and Kyle Fletcher to place first or second, while The Beast Mortos can only at best score 3 points with a win over Briscoe.
In the Gold League, Darby Allin gained three points in a hard-fought victory over a game Will Ospreay. As a result of that, there is a four-way tie right now for the leaderboard as Allin, Ospreay, Ricochet, and Claudio Castagnoli are all at 6 points. Brody King lags behind with 3 points and Komander is in the same position as The Beast Mortos with 0 points, though he does have two matches left that could see him tie things up if he can score wins over Castagnoli and King.
This puts the official standings by the end of AEW Dynamite at the following:
Blue League:
- Kyle Fletcher (3-0-0 | 9 points)
- Kazuchika Okada (c) (2-1-1 | 7 points)
- Mark Briscoe (2-2-0 | 6 points)
- Shelton Benjamin (2-1-0 | 6 points)
- Daniel Garcia (1-1-1 | 4 points)
- The Beast Mortos (0-4-0 | 0 points)
Gold League:
- Darby Allin (2-1-0 | 6 points)
- Claudio Castagnoli (2-1-0 | 6 points)
- Ricochet (2-1-0 | 6 points)
- Will Ospreay (2-1-0 | 6 points)
- Brody King (1-2-0 | 3 points)
- Komander (0-3-0 | 0 points)
This post will be updated later after AEW Rampage is taped when Brody King vs. Komander takes place, so stay tuned!
SPOILER UPDATE: Brody King defeated Komander on Rampage, meaning King is ALSO now tied at 6 points with everyone, leaving Komander as the only person who mathematically cannot get first or second place no matter what.
