New CMLL Women’s World Champion Willow Nightingale has shared her first thoughts after winning the vacant title at CMLL FantasticaMania USA.
Nightingale won a trios match to win the title which had been vacated after previous champion Stephanie Vaquer left CMLL to join WWE.
In her post-match comments, Nightingale referenced Vaquer and reflected on her previous match wrestling for CMLL. She said,
“Last time I wrestled in CMLL, was actually also my first weekend in CMLL, but you wanna know what happened when I showed up? I freakin’ won. I beat current CMLL women’s champ at that point, Stephanie Vaquer. Stephanie is not here, championship is vacant. Who’s gonna step up? No one else other than Willow Nightingale. My spirit was broken you know? AEW, my friend turned on me, I just lost my last match, I really needed to win, and today I didn’t just win, I walked out an international champion.”

Nightingale defeated Vaquer last year in the first round of a tournament to crown the first NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. Willow defeated Mercedes Mone in the finals.
Vaquer debuted for WWE last night during a live event in Mexico City. At the event, WWE’s newest signing defeated Women’s Tag Team Champion Isla Dawn.
