Christian Cage is aiming to obtain the trademark rights to his former nickname.
In 2021, Cage made his AEW debut at the Revolution pay-per-view event, where he signed a multi-year contract with Tony Khan’s company.
Since then, Cage has held the TNT Championship multiple times and has been a regular presence on television.
Soon after joining AEW, Cage sought the trademark rights for “Christian Cage.” He cannot use the name Christian because WWE holds the trademark rights. He possesses the rights for entertainment and clothing purposes.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Cage has filed for the rights to “Captain Charisma” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
However, WWE has contested his application. It remains uncertain whether Cage plans to file an appeal.
