Following Adam Copeland’s injury at AEW Double or Nothing 2024 after he jumped off the top of the barbed wire steel cage, the AEW TNT Championship was forced to be relinquished. To crown a new champion, All Elite Wrestling has spent the past several weeks setting up qualifiers to compete at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door III in a special ladder match for the belt.
Heading into this event to participate in that match were Konosuke Takeshita, ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, “The Scapegoat” Jack Perry, Dante Martin, Lio Rush and El Phantasmo.
Following a brutal match, Jack Perry was able to stand tall above the rest (quite literally) capturing the vacated title.

There was quite a lot of support for everyone else in the match, with Konosuke Takeshita arguably getting the biggest and best overall reactions from the crowd, surprisingly. However, The Elite continue to run strong, and this now means that Perry, Kazuchika Okada and both of The Young Bucks are all holding championship gold.
