According to reports, former WWE “Diva” Ashley Massaro died from an apparent suicide. Numerous media outlets, including The Blast, SI.com, The New York Post and others are reporting on this.
As reported yesterday here on eWn, the 2005 WWE RAW Divas Search winner passed away at the young age of 39.
According to The Blast, Massaro had been working at a local radio station in her hometown and did not show up for work on Thursday. Many employees and friends became concerned at that point. There was a “rescue call” made from Massaro’s home in Smithtown, NY at 5:23AM EST on Thursday morning. TheBlast.com has released the 911 call, which says paramedics arrived to Massaro’s home after an “unconscious” woman was found. CPR was administered on the way to the hospital, but she had already passed away.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner has not announced when autopsy results will be released.
“I can confirm that she has passed and has died and that she was 39 and that she was from Smithtown but I can not confirm any other details because we don’t have them,” said the Public Information Officer for the department. “And since it was considered a non criminal death we will not have them. We normally don’t release that info for non criminal deaths.”
According to a friend of Ashley Massaro’s (via Hollywood Life), the former women’s wrestler suffered from depression before she committed suicide. Three other close friends and former WWE Divas who worked with Massaro during her time in WWE recently indicated that they were aware of Massaro’s personal issues and depression. They include Michelle McCool, WWE Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson and Rochelle Loewen.
