Current WWE United States Champion Austin Theory thinks that the Money in the Bank briefcase might have been an anchor on him instead of a benefit.
Theory shared his thoughts on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, where he talked about how fans perceived him while he held the briefcase. Ultimately, Theory would attempt to cash in his title opportunity for Seth Rollins’ United States Championship. Theory was unsuccessful in his attempt.
Theory stated, “I think the briefcase is where it got a lot of controversy. Basically, it just kind of was getting to the point, if you were looking at it from like a widescale of ‘where’s this going,’ you look at Roman Reigns, he’s pretty much immortal right now. So, I think, for me, in a sense of, I need to be way more built up to look even possible to beat Roman Reigns. The briefcase was just kind of an anchor on me.”
Theory will defend his US Title inside the Elimination Chamber on February 18th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.
