According to reports, Ring of Honor star Chris Hero is expected to return to WWE in the near future. As of this writing, there is no word on whether he’s heading to the main roster or WWE NXT but the speculation is that he’ll head to NXT in early 2017. There is no specific timeframe for his return though.
Some of you may remember Hero as he previously worked in WWE NXT and FCW under the ring name “Kassius Ohno.” He was released in November of 2013. Following his release, there were several reports claiming WWE fired him due to his physique. The reports claimed that WWE officials asked him numerous times to lose weight and he failed to do so. Hero returned to the indies following his WWE departure and has been active ever since. He worked three events for EVOLVE and Beyond Wrestling this weekend.
As we’ve been reporting, WWE has been signing several big indy names, including Roderick Strong, Tommy End and Big Damo. Several fans noted that Chris Hero had a lack of bookings in 2017 which led to a lot of speculation that he was WWE bound. Those reports are now confirmed.
