On Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Juice Robinson and Jay White attacked Ricky Starks to start the show. It was later announced that White had signed with the promotion.
White had been a free agent after finishing up with New Japan Pro Wrestling earlier this year. He had interest from both WWE and AEW and recently lost a ‘Loser Leaves Japan’ match to Hikuleo, followed by a ‘Loser Leaves NJPW’ match against Eddie Kingston.
It was reported earlier this week here on eWn that there was no talk over WrestleMania 39 weekend about White within WWE, leading to doubt that he was going to sign with the company.
During today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that White decided to sign with AEW despite WWE being interested in him.
