Jay White has officially signed with All Elite Wrestling and the Kiwi wrestler debuted for the company on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
According to a report from Fightful Select, White has signed a multi-year contract with AEW. The deal was in place before WrestleMania 39 and WWE sources were aware that the NJPW star would not be signing with Vince McMahon’s company.
WWE was interested in White following his free agency and were confident about signing him. According to WWE higher-ups, the company “failed to communicate properly along the process” and AEW signing him might have been the result of Vince McMahon’s return to WWE’s Board of Directors in January and the lack of main roster signings since.
The WWE creative team was said to have had tentative plans for White, and as of last week, some in the company still hoped that WWE would obtain the signature of The Switchblade.
