WWE allowed Cody Rhodes to compete at Hell in a Cell 2022 believing that he couldn’t do any more damage to his torn pectoral muscle.
Hours before last night’s event, it was reported that Rhodes had sustained an injury while training on Friday.
Despite this, Rhodes competed at Hell in a Cell, defeating Seth Rollins in the show’s main event.
A source said Rhodes was given the option to postpone the match but Cody declined.
Given that Cody’s pectoral muscle was torn completely from the bone, WWE’s reasoning is that competing could not make the injury any worse.
Despite this, the match was changed to accommodate for the injury, with a moonsault spot scrapped.
Rhodes is expected to address fans on tonight’s WWE Monday Night RAW.
The reasoning for why Cody was cleared to wrestle is because he can’t do more damage to his completely torn pec. There were some high risk spots (moonsault) that were scrapped from the match. #HIAC
