As many of you know by now, former WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose will be leaving WWE later this week. Of course, Ambrose took part in “The Shield’s Final Farewell” special on the WWE Network Sunday night. According to reports, Ambrose’s current future in the pro wrestling business remains in question. Several people backstage in WWE have been lead to believe that Ambrose is “retiring” from wrestling due to being “burnt out.” For what it’s worth, many people don’t believe that and think that is what Ambrose is telling people so he can move on to other things, such as AEW and the indies.
Ambrose is telling people backstage in WWE that he’s not re-signing with the company because he’s “burnt out” and “unhappy.” There is some serious doubt that Ambrose is going to retire forever, as he’s only 33 years old.
While AEW is obviously interested in Ambrose, they hadn’t heard anything “in that direction” as of last week. We shall see but most expect Ambrose to wind up in AEW, Impact Wrestling or another promotion in the near future and the “burnt out” excuse is just that … an excuse to not re-sign with WWE. He also doesn’t have a 90-day no compete clause due to his contract expiring so he’s free to go wherever he’d like after this week.
