According to several new reports, WWE is trying to lock down their talents into new contract deals following Dean Ambrose choosing not to renew his contract within the past several weeks. According to PWInsider, WWE officials were meeting with talent whose deals will expire in the next couple of years, seeking to get them to sign new five-year deals similar to the ones that The Miz and Kevin Owens signed last year.
The site says it appears as if Ambrose’s departure — and the possibility of him going to AEW — was the impetus for the activity at SmackDown! Live. Several roster members “were in amazement” as they saw it all unfold. As seen earlier this week, WWE confirmed publicly that Ambrose would be leaving after his contract expires in April following the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event.
