Leva Bates’ AEW contract expired earlier this month after four years with the company. Fightful Select has now revealed more details on Bates’ departure from AEW.
According to the report, Bates was surprised by her departure as AEW did not approach her about renewing her contract.
While some found out via email, Bates learned when her friends reached out to check in on her.
A bunch of people in AEW pushed for Bates to stick around upon hearing that her deal wouldn’t be renewed.
Bates was originally part of The Librarians stable and used to wrestle for AEW. She eventually usurped several backstage roles.
In 2022, Bates began wrestling more and her most recent match took place in February.
Bates was “heavily influential” in “AEW Heels” and helped arrange the events jointly. Her statement about her departure received huge praise from many in AEW, especially as the situation leading to her exit was “less than ideal.”
