Although it may not seem like it these days, Marko Stunt is still part of the AEW roster.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Stunt is still signed to the company and is still being paid despite not being used on TV for quite a while now.
Stunt’s absence stood out during the AEW Dynamite on TBS debut show earlier this week, as he was a glaring omission in the emotional post-match scene that followed the main event of the evening, where his fellow Jurassic Express members — Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy — captured the AEW World Tag-Team Championships.
AEW is reportedly looking to set themselves apart from WWE in how they handle contracts with talent signed to the company that isn’t being featured frequently in storylines, or used often at live events.
While the deals for some talents will eventually expire and AEW may choose not to renew them, they reportedly want to refrain from releasing wrestlers under contracts unless it is for disciplinary reasons.
The company is apparently looking to set itself apart from WWE in the way they handle contracts with talent not being used frequently, and Stunt’s situation is a perfect example of this.
We will keep you updated as more information regarding Marko Stunt’s AEW status continues to surface.
