WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley has said his match against Brock Lesnar earlier this year did not live up to his expectations.
Lashley returned to WWE in 2018 after a dominant run in Impact Wrestling, with a key reason for his return being a match with the Beast.
Lesnar and Lashley faced off at the WWE Royal Rumble 2022 Premium Live Event in a match Lashley won after interference by Roman Reigns.
Speaking to Ryan Satin on the “Out of Character” podcast, Lashley admitted to being disappointed with the bout:
“It wasn’t the match I wanted because like, there’s a lot of things that were involved there, man. It’s a bigger story than just a couple of weeks and a random pay-per-view, and it’s more than just that.
“I want to train for that match like I’m training for a fight … People want to see us fight, people want to see us wrestle … There still is a lot of unfinished business there.”
While Lashley and Lesnar would both appear in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match, the pair never came to blows as the injured Lashley was written out of the match.
Lashley will defend his WWE United States Championship against Ciampa on tonight’s RAW.
