According to a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, Drew Gulak has been released from WWE. Gulak’s profile was moved to the alumni section of WWE.com earlier today.
Gulak signed with WWE back in 2016 and was mostly seen in the cruiserweight division. He just worked a match against Daniel Bryan on last night’s WWE SmackDown broadcast and despite the losing effort, he had been getting a fairly big push as of late.
As of this writing, WWE.com has not made any official announcement on his release. Gulak tweeted the following earlier today and was still hyping up his WWE gimmick.
Story developing …. stay tuned.
Yes, #ThankYouBryan! 🙏 A tournament requires great strength. Today let's work on our shoulders with what I like to call #Gulakmetrics! You can do this simple exercise anywhere! All you need is an immovable object. https://t.co/YRg7xqZEtT pic.twitter.com/nCYITpq1ow

UPDATE: As noted earlier this evening here on eWn, Drew Gulak is gone from WWE.
According to Pwinsider, Gulak’s WWE contract expired after last night’s SmackDown TV tapings. The show was taped earlier in the week. While the two sides had been discussing a new deal, they had not come to terms on an agreement before Gulak’s deal expired. With his contract expiring, he is now free to work wherever he’d like and there isn’t any sort of non-compete clause.
It’s very interesting that WWE allowed this to happen as they have been pushing Gulak on TV in recent months. He’s also turned into one of WWE’s most solid and versatile performers.
For what it’s worth, Gulak and WWE could reach a deal to bring him back to the company but as of right now, he is free to go wherever he’d like. That means he could appear on AEW Dynamite next week or could go to New Japan, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling, etc.
Gulak was originally trained by Chris Hero and Mike Quackenbush.
