Vince McMahon’s plot to return to WWE has proven to be successful, with the former Chairman now back with the company as of today.
McMahon retired from WWE in July of last year due to allegations of misconduct with female employees that resulted in millions of dollars paid out in NDAs.
Yesterday, McMahon issued a press release confirming reports that he was interested in returning to WWE, believing it is in the company’s best interest.
In an SEC filing made official today, it was confirmed that McMahon is back with WWE, alongside former co-Presidents Michelle Wilson and George Barrios.
Wilson and Barrios were dismissed in January 2020 over differences with McMahon and future plans for the WWE Network.
After these conflicts led to a slump in the market price, the two were dismissed from WWE and current co-CEO Nick Khan was hired as company President.
McMahon, Wilson, and Barrios are replacing now-former board members JoEllen Lyons Dillon, Jeffrey R. Speed, and Alan M. Wexler.
Following McMahon’s press release, WWE employees told Fightful that they were shocked by the news and were given no information prior to his statement.
It is unclear if McMahon will resume his roles as CEO and Chairman, though, with 80% of the voting power on the board, it is a possibility.
There is no word yet on whether McMahon will resume in his previous role as head of creative, now occupied by his son-in-law Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.
