A new champion was crowned on the first NXT show of 2022.
On Tuesday night’s NXT New Year’s Evil special event, Bron Breakker defeated Tommaso Ciampa to capture the NXT World Championship.
The win marks the start of Breakker’s first run with the NXT Championship, and ends Ciampa’s reign, which lasted 112 days.
Ciampa originally won the vacant title on the September 14, 2021 edition of NXT on USA in a Fatal-4-Way match after it was relinquished by Samoa Joe due to injury.
