WWE RAW Superstar Candice LeRae has spoken about the high bar set by Becky Lynch for new mothers returning to wrestling.
LeRae, who gave birth to her and Johnny Gargano’s first child Quill earlier this year, returned in September as part of the RAW roster.
Lynch’s first reign as RAW Women’s Champion ended in 2020 when she vacated the title due to pregnancy and gave birth to her and Seth Rollins’ daughter Roux in December 2020.
During a recent episode of the Ringside podcast, Candice spoke about Becky’s in-ring return at SummerSlam 2021 and the high bar “The Man” set. She said,
“The women who have done this before me gave me the little bit of courage to come back. I didn’t know if this was something that was going to be possible. Becky Lynch kind of set a bar really high for us moms coming back because she came back better than ever.
“Her doing that had me stop and go, ‘Wow, this is really possible. It’s doable and possible. She did it and look at her.’ She came back better than ever. ‘We can do this.’ It’s really awesome. Timing is everything and the timing has been absolutely perfect.”
LeRae’s most recent match saw her and RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair challenge WWE Women’s Tag Champions Damage CTRL in a losing effort.
