Former ROH owner Cary Silkin commented on the back and forth between Ric Flair and Dutch Mantell via Twitter as the two have taken shots at each other over the past week.
This led to Silkin bringing up his own experience with Flair as in January 2010, he filed a lawsuit against The Nature Boy alleging Flair owed the company over $40,000 stemming from Flair not going through with his contracted obligations as the “ROH Ambassador” for the HDNet TV tapings and ROH live events in 2009.
Flair was supposed to appear at five ROH house shows for $10,000 an appearance, but he didn’t appear in Montreal in July 2009 and then failed to return his $10,000 payment for that event.
Flair appeared at one taping and only made a brief announcement to the live crowd that he was resigning as the commissioner. Flair was paid $35,000 in advance for the TV appearances and only made one appearance in the end.
The lawsuit was never resolved as it was dropped by ROH once Silkin sold the company to Sinclair Broadcasting the following year.
Sorry folks every word @DirtyDMantell is saying about @RicFlairNatrBoy is true.
Flair owes me 41k from not fulfilling 4 @ringofhonor appearances in 2009.
Yes I was a moron to pay Ric up front.
That's my story and it's sad but true.
