Chavo Guerrero has high expectations for the upcoming The Iron Claw film, saying the project has “Oscar-worthy” potential.
The A24-produced biopic will document the lives of the Von Erich wrestling family, which was founded in 1953 with Fritz Von Erich.
Guerrero, the film’s wrestling coordinator, sat down with Wrestling Inc to discuss the much-anticipated film. He said,
“I definitely think you’re going to see something very Oscar-worthy… In the same feel as ‘The Wrestler,’ [it] obviously could be, because of that story. That story could be very tragic, and we could just totally just harp on that. Or you can play both sides. So this is really up to the director, Sean, how he wants to edit that, which, I believe I will be helping him edit the wrestling scenes.”
In addition to the wrestling choreography, Guerrero will play an unnamed role in the film.
AEW World Champion MJF will make his silver-screen debut in The Iron Claw as Kevin Vaughan, a 1980s character who was passed off as a cousin of the family named Lance Von Erich.
The Iron Claw is scheduled for a 2023 release.
