Chris Hero was pleased to make a return to WWE in 2017 but wishes he had been able to return without using the Kassius Ohno name.
Hero, as Kassius Ohno, competed for WWE NXT from 2012 to 2013 and would return to WWE in 2016. He remained with the company until 2020.
On a recent episode of the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, Hero spoke about his return to NXT and wished WWE allowed him to use the Hero name he’d used for years. He said,
“I started back in January 2017 and then I didn’t know until I was going out to make an appearance for the live crowd that I was going to be Kassius Ohno again. I thought I would be Chris Hero and they’re like, ‘Nope! You’re Kassius Ohno.’ I was like, well sh*t.”
In June, it was announced that Hero had signed with All Elite Wrestling as a coach. The following month, it was reported that he was also working with AEW as a producer.
