Claudio Castagnoli made his shocking AEW debut at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door. The Swiss Superman replaced fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson for the match against Zack Sabre Jr.
While speaking with the media during Starrcast V, Claudio discussed which opponent he’d like to face at the next Forbidden Door pay-per-view event. He has his eyes set on one former IWGP champion in particular.
“I just pick Okada mainly because I’ve known Okada for over ten years actually when he wrestled at CHIKARA. Me and Chris Hero had a house that a lot of the guys stayed at, including Okada, and then I saw him again when he was training in Mexico.
I think I have a picture of me and him when I still had hair and when he was not ‘Rainmaker’ yet, so I think there’s definitely a lot of history there. So yeah, that would be one of many guys I would want to face.”
AEW CEO Tony Khan has hinted at the possibility of another Forbidden Door in the future. Whether or not it comes to pass remains to be seen.
