ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli would not have spent a career swinging opponents by his feet if not for Dancing with the Stars.

Castagnoli left WWE in February and captured the ROH World Championship at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view event in July.

Appearing on “Insight with Chris Van Vliet,” Castagnoli addressed his Big Swing finisher and how it came about.

“When you don’t have the option of Netflix or anything, and you just have cable, I don’t know why but “Dancing With The Stars” was on, and they always have the cool lifts, right? Where they flow people around and everything.

“So, I watched that because they always had really cool lifts the way they picked people up … and they did a variation of that, and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool,’ so I went and tried it out and came up with the move pretty much.”

Pro wrestling and Dancing with the Stars are somewhat linked, with The Miz and Nikki Bella having appeared on the hit show.

Since becoming ROH World Champion, his first world title, Castagnoli has retained against Konosuke Takeshita, Dustin Rhodes, Ari Daivari and Dax Harwood.
