CM Punk was closing in on a return to AEW despite the All Out 2022 press conference incident and brawl with The Elite before his recent Instagram rant about Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho. It is said that AEW President Tony Khan wants to bring Punk back.
As we previously reported here on eWn, the two sides were working towards making that happen, with it being agreed to in principle, and then Punk made the IG post.
Fightful Select reported today that Punk has communicated repeatedly to AEW that he wants to come back and has pitched numerous scenarios in which he’d return. He’s also expressed “a willingness to work with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.” However, Omega and the Bucks didn’t seem keen on doing that a few months ago, although things could’ve changed.
Punk has expressed his willingness to stay away from The Elite as well.
Punk has also been open to working elsewhere, but whether he is referring to the ROH brand or another promotion is unclear.
