Earlier this evening, NBA Hall of Famer and Legend Shaquille O’Neal (aka, “Shaq”) threw out an open challenge to Cody Rhodes during the “AEW Awards” ceremony, challenging Cody to a match anytime, anywhere. Cody cut a promo Wednesday night on Dynamite, saying that March 7th sounds like an excellent time and place (referring to AEW Revolution). In spite of this, Cody was unsure of what he was going to do at the pay-per-view event and was concerned over his family in the midst of Brandi’s pregnancy.
Cody’s mentor, Arn Anderson, offered some heartfelt advice to “The American Nightmare”, saying this battle with Shaq would be a huge once in a lifetime match. He then told Cody the story of how his late father, Dusty Rhodes, wrestled Tully Blanchard on June 29th, 1985 and then flew back home to be there for Cody’s birth. He went on to bring out Red Velvet, whose had her own issues with Jade Cargill. She then verbally trash talked Cargill.
With the ball being in Shaq’s court (pun intended), there is a very good chance that we will see Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet challenge Shaquille O’Neal and Jade Cargill in a Mixed Tag-Team Match at AEW Revolution. We will have more on this story as information continues to come in.
