— UPDATE x 3: Austin Aries has confirmed that he is taking time off on this week’s 205 Live. Aries said in a promo that he has has been dealing with knee and neck injuries and is not medically cleared to wrestle. Aries had been working WWE shows over the past week.
Aries first said that he could be taking time off last week on Busted Open Radio but later denied it.
UPDATE x 2: Austin Aries has addressed reports that he’s taking time off from WWE. The reports were based on an interview he had done earlier this week, but Aries told Josh Barnett that the quote was taken out of context.
“If you look at the full quote and what I said was, Everyone is dealing with various stuff,” Aries said. “I don’t think there is anyone in the locker room is 100%. We’re all nicked and banged up to various degrees. Like anything else, you pick and choose the times you need address when it needs to be addressed and some times are better than others. I figure no matter what interview I do, the real good ‘journalists’ are going to find the completely irrelevant quotes that will drum up some controversy and stick it on their page to get some clicks and completely miss the real context of what the interview is about. That’s what we do nowadays and call it ‘journalism.’”
Aries was promoting his book Food Fight: My Plant Powered Journey from the Bingo Halls to the Big Time, which began shipping on Friday.
UPDATE: Yesterday it was reported that Austin Aries would be taking some time off from WWE, but now appears that it will just be some time away from TV. Aries was at TV this past Tuesday for 205 Live, but just wasn’t used. He is also scheduled to work this weekend’s RAW live events.
ORIGINAL: Austin Aries recently appeared on Busted Open Radio. During his appearance Aries confirmed he has some nagging injuries at the moment and said that he’ll be taking some time off to “try and get my mind and my body right.”
“I’ve got some stuff going on, but just to be fair you could probably say that for a lot of the locker room. It’s kind of part of what we do, I don’t think anyone is ever 100%. So I got a couple things going on and obviously at this point it might be a good time to take a little break which really could consist of two days to just adjust some of those things, try and get my mind and my body right and then come back and figure out what’s gonna be next and what the direction’s gonna be.”
