Deonna Purrazzo believes that she should be the one to dethrone Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Champion Mickie James, as she stated on The Bob Culture Podcast.
The Virtuosa acknowledged the heated rivalry that she and James have had over the past two years, which included James defeating Purrazzo to win the Impact Knockouts World Championship at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view event and the two of them headlining the Impact Hard To Kill 2022 pay-per-view.
Although James went on to beat Purrazzo in the Last Rodeo, and then regain the title by defeating Jordynne Grace at Impact Hard To Kill 2023, Purrazzo still has her sights set on taking down her foe. Purrazzo sees defeating James and taking the title from her as a full-circle moment and a satisfying end to their story. “It should be me,” Purrazzo stated, emphasizing her desire to be the one who ends James’ reign. She said,
“I think that Mickie and I have just told an amazing story over the last almost two years that she’s been with IMPACT, and I think that it would come really full circle for Deonna Purrazzo to be the one to defeat Mickie James. I never have defeated Mickie James before. I almost did, and then she cheated, so I just want to throw that out there. She only beat in December because she cheated, but IMPACT doesn’t seem to care about that. I think it would be so full circle and story-ending of, she dethroned me, and now I get to get my comeuppance years later. So it will be really interesting to see if we get to that point. I would love it. I know Mickie would love something like that to happen. It’s just a matter of time and if all the pieces are in the right place.”
Deonna Purrazzo also spoke about the importance of learning from the likes of Mickie James, Bully Ray, and more experienced wrestlers. You can check that out here.
