Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman played as pivotal a role as Mike Tyson in turning the tide of the Monday Night Wars, according to Eric Bischoff.
On the RAW after WrestleMania 14, Waltman jumped ship from WCW to WWE as part of the new D-Generation X led by Triple H.
During his “83 Weeks Podcast,” Bischoff spoke highly of what Waltman brought to the table. He said,
“Waltman was a huge shot in the arm for [WWE]… I’ll never change my opinion when I tell you that Sean Waltman was as important to the turnaround for WWE than just about anything else, including Mike Tyson.”
While Bischoff said that Tyson’s involvement got eyes on WWE, he argued that Waltman joining the company from WCW was highly influential from a fan perspective. He said,
“Waltman was a part of nWo and because nWo was such a dominant part of wrestling at that period of time that, when Waltman left the nWo, I think that was as important a piece of the puzzle for WWE as anything else.”
Waltman was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of DX in 2019 and as part of the nWo in 2021.
