Former WWE referee Mike Chioda has been a part of plenty of WrestleManias but believes this year’s event is far too predictable.
Next month’s event will be headlined by Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes, in a match the American Nightmare is expected to win.
Speaking on his “Mailbag Monday” podcast, Chioda suggested that WWE swerves the fans by having Reigns once again walk out on top. He said,
“If I was a writer, I’d probably put Roman over.”
Chioda also spoke about the predictable nature of a Rhodes victory next weekend, and said “That’s what kills me, WrestleManias, they’re so straight and forward.”
While Chioda is in favor of Reigns retaining, he also recognizes why WWE should give the title to Rhodes. He explained,
“I don’t know how they say, ‘Okay, Cody, you get to the main stage now, you’re back with WWE, and we’re going to job you out. I can’t see that either, but if they wanna swerve the fans, you know what I’m saying?”
Chioda concluded by giving his prediction for who will walk away as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. He said,
“I wanna say Cody, but I’m gonna say Roman, ’cause hey look, Cody and Roman don’t make these decisions.”
WWE WrestleMania 39 will take place on April 1, and April 2, from the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
