A match between WWE’s four horsewomen is now an impossibility, but according to one ex-WWE writer, this match was always a long shot.

In WWE, the four horsewomen refer to Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks (now Mercedes Mone,) Becky Lynch and Bayley, who first wowed fans with their skills in NXT.

Appearing on the Public Enemies Podcast, former WWE writer Chris Dunn shared his view that the match was always going to be difficult to get approved. He said,

“I don’t think Vince was ever on board with it. I think others in the company were. I think it probably could’ve ended up happening eventually, but it wasn’t anything ever really on the docket. I think some people really wanted it to happen and build towards it, but I feel like if everyone was still with the company now, it definitely would’ve.”

While a fatal four-way between the horsewomen did not happen on WWE’s main roster, the quartet did battle in NXT, though under far more different characters than what fans would know them for.

Mone debuted for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17 earlier this month and will challenge for the IWGP Women’s Championship at Battle in the Valley on February 18.
